Mr. Aswin Techajareonvikul participated in the Service of Remembrance organised by the Royal British Legion in Kanchanaburi on November 11, 2023. Mr. Aswin Techajareonvikul, the CEO and President of BJC Big C Group, joined this annual event to pay tribute to the Southeast Asian forced laborers who perished during World War II. The Commemoration Service took place at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in Kanchanaburi and was presided over by the Governor of Kanchanaburi Province and the British Ambassador, along with representatives from Commonwealth countries.
Mr. Aswin, a Volunteer Defence Corps Colonel who has also served on the Board of the Thai National Scout, participated in a reading during the ceremony. He emphasised the importance of gratitude, stating, “We often take for granted the very things that deserve our gratitude the most. Those of us gathered here today in this solemn place pay our respects not only to the 13,000 Allied Soldiers but also remember and honour the 90,000 Southeast Asian civilian forced laborers who perished during that tragic and devastating period of history.”
During the event, Mr. Aswin also contributed to raising funds in support of the Royal British Legion Thailand.
